Happy Labor Day to you, as well. I can’t imagine having our wood stove burning in August. It is still way to hot here. We had 115 (with the heat index in Chicagoland) this week.

Anything in the triple digits is WAY too hot! I hope it will cool off for you soon.

It has cooled a bit but we are still nowhere near, “let’s put in a fire” weather.

It was fun to see pictures of your world Linda! That is funny that the deer ate the leaves and left the sunflowers! It will be a long time before we will have a fire in the fireplace here, we’re still in the 90s 😅

I realize lots of people are still experiencing very hot temps. Maybe this will give you hope! Meanwhile you can give thanks for air conditioning.😉

I enjoyed seeing your pictures, my friend. Those darn deer! I’m so happy they left your blooms!
I am glad for the cooler temperatures. Today, it was 43 degrees. A fire in the fireplace could happen soon.
Thanks for sharing part of your world with us!

We had another morning about like yours and had a fire. It does heat up the house nicely, but we have to watch to not build it up too well or the added heat from the afternoon sun will overpower us. It’s lovely, though, to need the chill taken off. I think many are enjoying lower temps even if it is from triple digits to ninety’s.

I hope you had a wonderful Labour Day weekend, Linda. I haven’t had a fire yet, but have been curling up under a quilt in the evenings. I love rhubarb and picked the last of mine to make a rhubarb crisp, my favourite. Only a few more days until the official end of summer. I hate to see it end.

Me too, Carla, but I also enjoy autumn.

How did I miss this post! That pie looks amazing, I have never tasted gooseberries before. I can’t believe the deer didn’t destroy the sunflowers!

Ah! They left them alone–until they didn’t. In our area there are lots of the smaller variety of sunflowers (at least that’s what I call them) growing along the roadsides and they never bother them. One day I saw that all of the bottom leaves on these were gone. A few remained at the top, and they left the flowers.😂
