Goodbye to Summer

With Labor Day comes the unofficial end of summer. Today I say goodbye to summer with a few photos from this week:

Monday started out cloudy and rainy. Our first fire of the new season felt so cozy.
Rhubarb for a pie.
Adding in some strawberries, my husband created a delicious strawberry, gooseberry, rhubarb pie.
Sunflower seeds gathered last year are transforming into new blooms. Look for leaves on the bottoms of the stalks. You won’t find any because some deer decided this week that they would make a delicious treat. I was so thankful they left the blooms.
My friend Barby captured a photo of some grosbeaks who are selecting the sunflower seeds in the bird feeders. I saw a chipmunk later stealing onto the deck to eat the smaller seeds that the grosbeaks had unceremoniously splashed overboard.

Wishing you all a pleasant Labor Day weekend and cooler temps for those in hot climates.
